teachNOLA Master Teacher Corps
Program Overview
Everyone understands that excellent teachers are essential to improving student achievement. Good teachers help students master new skills, make progress, and overcome challenges that might otherwise derail them from succeeding in school. But this is more than just common sense. Research shows that an effective teacher can significantly boost student learning, and several highly-effective teachers in a row can actually eliminate the persistent gap in academic achievement that separates low-income and minority students from White students.
teachNOLA’s Master Teacher Corps seeks certified teachers with a proven track record of improving student achievement who want to be part of the rebirth of our city by making a difference for its students. The program offers a streamlined application process and supports outstanding candidates in finding teaching positions in New Orleans schools where their dedication and talent are most needed. Why Join
When it comes to the resource that matters most in education—great teachers—America has not delivered on the promise of an equal education for all. And the results are predictable, both across the country and here in New Orleans. Only 20% of our city’s eighth-graders are performing on grade level in math and English. But we know that all New Orleans students can achieve at high levels if there is an effective teacher in every classroom.
Since 2006, more than 230 dedicated professionals have joined our Master Teacher Corps and begun working in one of the most exciting environments for education reform. As a teachNOLA Master Teacher, you will be part of this movement--drawing on your experience and record of achievement to improve the lives of our city's neediest students.
